3 Types of Spray Foam Guns

There are 3 category types when discussing spray foam guns that are available on the market.

Mechanical Purge Guns:

When the trigger of a mechanical purge gun is released, a mechanical rod pushes through the chamber, which pushes any residual chemical out of the tip of the gun. This spray gun is especially useful for anyone who finds that they need a variety of flow rates while working on several jobs on a project. This gun is so intricate and complicated, naturally, it comes with the downside of having high maintenance demand. To keep a mechanical purge gun working at the level it is supposed to be the operator will have to make sure the valve rod always stays clean. We would suggest that you only use this gun if you are a professional with experience working with spray foam guns.

Air-Purge Guns

When the trigger is released, a blast of compressed air flows through the gun, blowing out the residual chemical from the mixing chamber. Air-Purge guns are the most user-friendly spray guns on the market, which naturally makes them the most popular on the market. Their unique design also makes them a low-maintenance choice. Unlike the high maintenance of the mechanical purge guns. This gun makes sure that a wide range of skill sets can use it.  Whether you are going to take on a DIY renovation project, or are a seasoned spray foam professional an air-purge spray gun hardly, if ever disappoints.

Solvent Purge Spray Guns:

Solvent spray guns are superior to air purge guns, but they are more complicated which comes with some drawbacks that may persuade you to stay away from them. Solvent spray guns depend on a chemical solvent to flush out any materials that may remain in the gun chamber after use. This type of gun is used more for coating than for insulation. You have to make sure the gun is always diligently cleaned or else you will most likely have irregular chemical mixing and inconsistent spraying.
